I'm very grateful to everyone involved in the making of this video, and i've found it very helpful generally speaking. I feel that because my problems are all very complex and of long standing, i will need to work really hard to try to get noticeable improvements.

Hi there, A few weeks ago I'd never heard o Pathwaythroughpain and I didnt think in a month of Sundays that it would do me any good. I started reading the first steps of the course many times but, if I'm honest, I couldn't see it having any impact on me, until I was laying in bed, going round the bend with the pain I was in so again I was looking to see if I had any emails and Pathway popped up yet again,so I thought well, s..t or bust and started to read and listen to it! Well cut a long story very short, the more I read and listened, the more I wanted to read it! Every day I would log in to see if there was another step and really disappointed if they decided to give a break! I'm not sure how long it took me to complete it, but today I've realised that I have completed it, I was gutted!!! But I then realised that, if I want to, i can go back to the 'library's and listen once again to the bits that i didnt 'get' and try and sort or understand it this time round. Pathway doesn't leave you high and dry when you complete the course you can go over it as many times as you want to,(I think). As my beautiful Granddaughter keeps telling me, I've written you an essay again! But I'm not going to apologise for it, I hope I've made you think twice before deciding it's just another course when it isn't! Well, good luck everyone who is going to give this Course a fair go at it, you'll be so glad you took the time to do it. The last bit of my essay goes to all my 'friends' at Pathway for giving me all the help I needed and I'll definitely be looking back on it time and time again. So from the bottom of my heart, a huge ' thankyou', Pathway and everyone who is involved in making it what it is! Thankyou, thankyou! Did I say Thankyou? Well, thankyou again and again!!!!! Lots of love, Susan H Ps. Thankyou to Jess, who must have been tearing his hair out with me sometimes as before this course I'd never done an email, he helped me through it! Thankyou, yet again. Lots of love, Susan H. Xxx

Once you are up and running on the course, it is easy to follow. Various professionals take you through each stage of the course via a video. You have a few simple exercises they ask you to do and some good meditation audios, that are well worth the bother - so shut yourself away somewhere quiet to do the course. No paperwork required. Simple questions answered on-line via the course to see how you progressing. You are allowed, so well worth it for meditation and exercise, to download so you can refer to it in the future.

Initially the course didnt seem to be helping, but as it went on, it all gelled together and became very helpful. I am continuing with the exercises and relaxation techniques to help my pain.

The pain I am in can change from day to day, the weather plays a big part When it’s sunny, I think everyone feels happy, when the sunshine’s for me it’s the warmth as the cold plays massive on my day to day living. I am unable to bath, while I can get in I am unable to get out !! So I have to shower, I struggle to wash myself, so I have adapted a way that I can manage, I don’t shower when in the house alone, as I’ve fallen out several times, I am unable to wash an dry my hair,!so am reliant on family luckily for me my granddaughter lives with me which helps a lot. I am not going to ramble on what I can’t do, I try to think positive on the things I can/try to do, I don’t let the bad things out way the good things that I managed to do. Sometimes I do the most silliest of things which causes me to fall, or go shopping for for 2/3 things end up getting to much which I am unable to carry so have a melt down an someone has to come an get me then the next day I have a flare up an I’m unable to do anything for the next day or two, lesson learnt don’t go to shop alone, I keep trying it’s the not being able to walk pain free that gets me down I had ankle fusion 3yrs ago, I have scoliosis so this has made it worse, due to one leg longer than other, this pandemic halted a lot of things in my life I have a wedge now which helps, I bought myself a back brace which I wear for 30/ mins to a hour a day to try to correct my posture with this comes pain discomfort I feel if it helps I will still continue to use, I say to myself stand straight pull your shoulders back Gina when I walk, walking is a journey In itself steep roads are a stopping starting process, I get there in the end !! Basically it’s don’t go shopping on your own so I am stuck indoors hence, the sunshine helps as I can sit in the garden I had pneumonia also aug/sept which knocked me back as I am never poorly I’m going to stop now ha ha

To make the most of this course, I found that the key is to set aside time once or twice a week specifically to dedicate completing the steps. Once I did this I progressed quickly. I learnt a lot about the physiology of pain and welcomed the opportunities provided to challenge my thoughts about the pain I experience in relation to how it makes me feel and how I go about trying to best manage it. I enjoyed trying out new techniques to help manage pain, for example I find the guided meditations particularly helpful. The resource library within the programme is an excellent idea, as if the activities were not collated there I would probably either forget to use them altogether or forget where I can find them. If I were to give advice to someone just starting the course, I would say set dedicated times once or twice a week to complete a step. I would also recommend submitting weekly entries to the journal so that I could track my progress and use this to reflect back on.

Overall I found the course very good, however I now need to practice all that's been thought for a month. Which I will continue do, maybe except the deep relaxation.

This course was used as a refresher course, as I had a face to face one a few years ago. The information was clear and understandable but I have such difficulty in concentrating that I probably didn't take on board as much as I should have done.. Re-watching doesn't improve my concentration - the Covid lockdown and the weather has not helped either.

Personally I would have liked more information on pacing as I feel this would have been beneficial to me if it was explored further. I have also found the section on stretching helpful and was hoping for more content in regards of how to increase physical activity.

I found the Pathway Through Pain Course to be most useful. Firstly, it made me feel less alone knowing that the Doctors and experts understood how difficult it is dealing with pain. The different tasks were all most useful and have helped me considerably. I would recommend the course to anyone who suffers from chronic pain.
