I was a little sceptical prior to starting the course as to how pain could be managed via an online programme. I have just completed the course though and am so glad that I was able to participate in the programme. I learnt so much that will help me in managing my pain, including pacing, relaxation techniques, stretching, exercising, mindfulness, sleeping tips and changing unhelpful thought processes. I would recommend this course to anyone living with long-term chronic pain, whatever the cause.

The course it well set up and a great help to anyone in persistent pain. It has easy to follow instructions with just the right amount to deal with each time you log on. Face to face chat with a specialist in their subject makes you feel you are not alone. Would highly recommend this course.

I have actually enjoyed doing the course because it has been a regular reminder to take stock and take care. I really love all the meditations and will use them regularly - they help when the pain is bad and do actually reduce it. This just shows that getting rid of any tension/stress is so important in managing pain.

I was not looking forward to doing this online course. I have to say I have learnt and taken so much from it and have thoroughly enjoyed partaking in it. It has been brilliantly done and the professionals that play their part are all excellent. Totally brilliant and thank you. It was very uplifting.

I'm so happy that the physio at the hospital enrolled me for this course, it's made me think about myself more and the pain I'm in. I play the relaxing video when I need it, and it does help, it also makes you take some time for yourself and that's important. I look at my pain differently now, I don't take as many painkillers, I've lost weight, and feel much better in myself. Thank you team.

I have found the course to be helpful and thought provoking. I was definitely seeing my pain as bad thoughts and although my pain hasn't reduced in the scale from the start of the course through to the end of the course...my anxiety and depression and overall health has! I am still taking painkillers but have started to reduce them and feel more in control than I did. Thank you.

The course was very helpful and I will try to get to the stage where all that I have learned comes natural and day to day habit/routine. I hope that as time goes on I will improve. My back has been more painful recently and no idea why but will maintain positive and hopeful my quality of life will continue to ìmprove. Pathway Through Pain helped restore my life to me. I woke one morning with the sensation of a knife in the hip. It became my close companion, along with agony in the lower back. Only opiates helped; one doctor looked at my MRI scans and said, "No wonder you hurt." I coddled this pain, and feared it. But this course taught me that I had to move. I went back to trying hard in the gym; I stretched; I kept repeating, from the course: "Pain does not mean damage." But I also learned not to push through it, antagonize it. And the meditative techniques helped cut the fear. When my trainer finally realized that my muscles were in spasm, she took a plastic rolling pin and rolled out my back. It was agony. But after an hour, 75% of the pain was gone. I stopped taking pills that day. For the remaining pain, I lift weights, stretch, meditate, and breathe, using what this program taught me. Pathway Through Pain is a gift.

An excellent course presented in small stepped stages. I have found the different aspects of the course interesting & useful. The relaxation techniques have resulted in the best night sleeps for a very long time. I thought I managed my pain reasonably well but I found the explanation from the doctors & physio very enlightening & helped me feel 'normal' with the recent flare up I have experienced. It has given me greater confidence knowing that I have been addressing & managing my chronic pain in a positive way. I strongly recommend it. Thank you.

I was very unsure about this course to start with. However some of the techniques I have learnt are very useful and the mindfulness resources are great. It's definitely worth completing.

Despite initial negative thoughts about the course I persevered and have found a lot of it beneficial and, in the end, I am glad I completed it. I am also glad I will be able to refer to it the course when I feel the need, I am sure I will find the need from time to time. Thank you.

I have found this course very helpful as doctors and neurosurgeons never ask how my illness affects my state of mind, and this course deals with that. I will use the relaxation techniques and positive mental attitude to cope with the pain my illness causes me and to see that there are ways and means to live a semi normal life again. It has been both helpful and enlightening and I would highly recommend it to anyone struggling to cope with their pain.

Thank you for including me on the course. I have found it very insightful and although I have practiced most of these techniques before, it has provided me with a discipline to move forward with a more positive attitude. I realise that there is no magic bullet to help me with my pain, but learning new techniques to alleviate the times of crisis, is a very important step for me and I will continue to practice them. I have learned the most important step and that is pacing myself.

I have been struggling with a great deal of pain for almost 5 years and it has been getting worse over the last year especially. The meditation techniques have really helped me as I struggle with relaxing to fall asleep, and I will continue to use them into the future. I have found that it is so important to pace activities and exercise of any kind, and to stop before any pain increases. I thought this was a very useful course. I like the way the thought pattern does change things. Also not to overdo it. I now do a little when I'm not feeling so good and I definitely do not go mad when I'm feeling good. My bad habit was doing too much on a good day, this would then wipe me out for 2-3 days. I love the meditation sleep cd. I have listened to several cd's regarding meditation and by far I think this is the best I've heard. A lot of the exercises I do already but there were definite parts of this course that were very useful. I would recommend.
