I am stuck at home, and will be looking forward to getting out, but a long way to go, But I am positive that I will be able to achieve a little bit, mean, small steps to take for now. Thanking you and the team. I should have been on the course years ago, as I had been referred, but no one took the pain seriously, and I ended up with multiple health issues and popping the pills most of the time I am rattling with medication but after doing this course I think I will take the holistic approach I do not want any surgery but I just need support with disability AIDS and pain management, rather than being going in circles like before.
I would like to say thank you to all the chronic pain course team . Before I started the course I thought what can they tell me about living with chronic pain because I live by myself and have to do everything pain or no pain. But having completed the course I now feel more confident about about doing what I was doing for myself and also setting goals for what I want to accomplish in the future. I found every step on the course useful understanding pain , relaxation techniques, stretching exercises, self confidence and it’s ok if you can’t do things you want to do when you want to do them take time out and relax have another go if you feel comfortable doing so or you can ask someone else for help it doesn’t mean you are a failure.
Very helpful, but still have bad days
Pathway through pain has been extremely interesting and helpful. I enjoyed all the lectures and the meditation videos were very enjoyable. I would recommend to friends they should participate if they can to help with their pain.
Some parts of the course have been helpful, especially the relaxation aspects and I like the fact that we can draw on them via the library and also download some of them. I've had the benefit of having received previous therapy to assist with my problems, so was familiar with some of what was said and/or techniques used, but it is useful to have those along with the new methods together in one place. I managed to achieve one of my 3 goals set which I'm pleased about, it taking a lot of effort mentally and physically to do, it taking longer than I would normally like but I have been reminding myself that I do not need to set myself impossible deadlines, to accept that i will get things done eventually and to pace myself. I've learned to try and stop before I worsen. I have a lot of stress etc in my life and am aware as to how this impacts on my mind and body and have therefore found the relaxation videos/methods the most beneficial. I have yet to get into a routine with the stretching which is ad hoc, due to working and nor feeling up to much else each day, but I'm going to set time aside each day and pop it in my calendar to at least start off with a couple each day and build up. I would recommend this course, which has been put together by a team of specialists in this area, who have made such advice easily accessible to those of us who need it and need help in managing our pain and the impact it has on our lives. Thank you to the team.
Exercises and relaxation all very helpful to me.
I found Pathway through Pain informative and helpful, giving strategies in manageable chunks. The strategies are easy to incorporate into daily life and do make a difference to pain and feelings surrounding pain and it’s effects. Having ongoing access to the library has been invaluable. Thank you.
I found the course gave me hope in what had seemed like a hopeless situation. I have been through the course twice now and I am trying to change my mindset about the way chronic pain affects my life. I still have a long way to go as I am still in the process of receiving investigative treatment but when I have a flare up I revisit the library and particularly use the meditations to help me through.
It was suggested I try this course and I agreed because you do it at your own speed It has taken me longer than they say but I had NO pressure to go faster In the end I have learnt a lot more about pain and how you can reduce it without drugs As I practice these tips I hope to be able to reduce my dependence on painkillers Great Course just keep trying but don't rush
I'm currently being weened off of my medication, so it was very important that I followed this course to deal with the pain. The stretches I've learned and the meditation techniques are really helping with the pain. They don't remove the pain but they lower the pain making it easier to manage with daily tasks.
I enjoyed doing this course and found it very helpful but unfortunately my condition worsend so it is difficult to establish how much the course has helped me. My pain has worsened in the last month or so and also i haven't been able to access some sections in the library espcially the relaxation one. But i thank you because i have learned a lot of things.
The videos were good to have and make it interesting. Just enough physiology explained, unfortunately a lot of the content I have already been doing but was good to do still
I found the course helped me a lot as I could do it at my own pace and it made me realise I was not alone. They gave me more confidence to do the things I can when I am able. The relaxing video helps me a lot as do all the videos.
Thank you for the help you have provided. I will continue to use the tips, exercises and positive mantras you have given me. Thank you
I found this course really helpful and looked forward to it
A very helpful and realistic course, my pain management has improved and I am very happy with the advise and on-going resources that I can now access
I have found this course very informative & helpful. It's also been enjoyable to have something to do as my days are long & lonely. I've not logged in for 2 weeks due to illness & mental health problems. Now I'm getting help I'm hoping to resume techniques I've learnt. Thank you
Thank you. This course has made a difference to my life and believe it will do forever. I feel I am not alone. Loved the meditations and have found that my pain levels, even though bad, since doing the course I can bounce back emotionally quicker after a major flare up and keep more of a smile when doing so.
Will look back on it all the time as I will need it more for my recovery x
Chronic pain for over 10 years had taken a life of it's own and was making decisions for me, it often controlled my life, insidiously controlling my thoughts and behaviour. This course helped me by opening my eyes and seeing that 'pain is not damage'. It has given me confidence to work through pain, and now I am getting the life back that I had been losing. Pathway Through Pain has given me practical tools to manage my bad days and know how far to go on the good ones, and by doing so I will achieve more. Thank you for putting this programme together - Victor Saltmeris
I was sceptical that the course being internet based would be be non interactive but it’s structure certainly feels as if the experts are sitting next to you. Impressive!
A very good informative course. I have done a similar course before with my sister, it was face to face as she did it just before lockdown so i knew what it was all about. But thank you so much for having me.
I'm sorry that I can't really give a more positive feedback. I've suffered from chronic pain for over 30 years since a spinal operation left me with scar tissue and other spinal problems I already practise much of what this course offers, with the exception of the drugs for pain video. This video I found quite condescending, saying that chronic pain patients will continue to take drugs for their pain but complain they aren't working. That's so far off from my experience. Most chronic pain patients accept that they are not going to be pain free but usually know the drugs that allow them to function and the dosage it takes to keep them functional. This course may be helpful to patients who are new to chronic pain but less helpful to patients who have years of experience.
The course is very helpful.
