I was not convinced it was going to help but thought well it cannot hurt so just give it a go. I am so glad i did it has made me really look at what is important and to not stress about things i cannot change. My pain management was not controlled at all when i first started and i still have days when it is horrendous and i need help to shower but i have learnt to value the days when i can do the simple things like walk my grandchildren to the shop and buy them a treat . I have learnt to keep those wins in my mind to stop the more disruptive negative thoughts that can come with constant pain . The steps make you rethink how you do everyday things without judgement it gives you encouragement to keep going even on the difficult days by giving you the tools to keep going . I would highly recommend making full use of the library. good luck from a sceptic who has been totally converted. I got to the stage were i looked forward to the next step .

I really found the course so helpful and the support from the team has been brilliant. I feel much more confident about managing my pain and helping myself more with my daily routines

The course was helpful in some cases but not in others. I already knew most of the stuff from years of practice. My underlying mental health issues made things very difficult to engage with. The best parts of the course were the relaxation videos. The one in the garden lying on the hammock was my favourite and extremely helpful. The one on the beach was very helpful too. I have had a major back pain setback for nearly a week now.

Having been very skeptical about the course, I have found it interesting and in many ways useful. It will probably help anyone suffering from ongoing pain where a diagnosis has not been identified or the need for a form of rehab after an operation. But I was diagnosed with a damaged facet joint which after numerous injections and Ryzolysis left me struggling for pain relief. This left me with 2 options Pain Management or an Operation. Although I have another 2 weeks of pain management to go feel my medication is dealing with the majority of the pain and any other management is a top up. But as a keen golfer know that I could not play, let alone walk the course at a slow and stop start pace, its just too painful

Unfortunately I didn't find a lot of the course helpful. I have a lot of various pain issues, that are all active at the same time, not just with my back such as joint dislocation, so the techniques I learnt don't work for me, but the meditation is very good and I'm very pleased I tried.

Excellent place for knowledge if you are new to managing pain, for me I knew almost everything from previous pain management course so nothing new gained.

No new ideas, but plenty of information about how to manage pain, particularly with the meditation parts.

I enjoyed taking part on the Pain Management course and found some of the areas covered of real benefit. It was ideal being able to log on as and when I wanted, which is perfect if you're feeling too ill at any time.

I have enjoyed the course. Based on the time I have had chronic pain I had already tried a lot of the things mentioned in the course. I felt the course would have been more beneficial to me earlier on this journey. However it has helped me to pace myself, realise I am not alone and ask for help when I need it most. I think I understand my pain very well and continue to improve my well being and standard of living.

This complete at your own pace course was extremely useful. I was able to fit it around my normal day to day, week to week life and routines, with helpful prompts to remind me of things got busy and I’d forgotten. It covers all topics and gives very helpful and informative information about how to help to yourself and manage your life your own way without fads or unreasonable targets and promises.

I am very impressed with the quality, presentation and ease of use of this course. I have found it very helpful so far and am relieved that I will still have access to the library. I fully intend to continue to use the excellent techniques provided. I appreciate having this support provided and rate it highly professional compared with previous pain management and meditations I have used.
Many thanks

Very helpful. Some courses were more helpful for me than others. Looking forward to reassessing how I've done in one month as things have got worse currently due to coming off medication!

Some of the course was really useful, some was not. The pacing idea I found most useful along with the knowledge about pain not being detrimental to the body. Thanks

I found this course to be really helpful. Particularly the relaxation and meditation elements. I have benefited from the stretching exercises and also the message that pain doesn't mean damage. I will continue to use these skills to help manage my condition. Thank you.

It was a very beneficial course, and hope to continue listening to advice from the videos. The videos have taught me things I didn't know before, and whilst I still experience pain, the course has helped manage it.

I enjoyed the course. Although I don't feel much different pain-wise I think it has helped me understand things a bit better. I will try to keep up with my breathing exercises, physical exercises and will try to do the relaxation techniques and hopefully slowly things will improve.

I started the course having tried physiotherapy and osteopathy as well as painkillers. Neither worked well. The NHS was overstretched so I spent lot of money on private consultants who gave me injections, an MRI scan, and pain management advice. When I heard of the amount that would be necessary I blenched and decided to wait till the musculoskeletal unit in my area would see me ten weeks ahead. While waiting, I decided to look on the internet about pain relief. I found pathway through pain. After the thousands of pounds I had already spent, sixty quid sounded nothing. It has proved to be the best investment I have made in my health in my last 86 years. The three elements that together have worked for me are, first better knowledge that I saw the point of. I thought that pain was to warn you to stop doing something, the discovery that in chronic pain you don't need to stop and be afraid was huge, and the concept of the pain gate was immediately powerful. Second, the exercises really worked, the fact they were to stretch was also unexpected. Third, I found the relaxation really good. As an old fashioned man, I had been sceptical. I am now much much less so. Finally congratulations on the elements that bind the course together, I find the library and the journal excellent and shall go on referring to them. Finally, the ongoing evaluation really kept me hooked and wanting to go on.
